Huang Yaqiong, Paris 2024 Gold Medalist, Withdraws From Chinese National Team

Huang Yaqiong, a part of the Chinese mixed doubles team, has withdrawn from the national squad citing her inability to continue striving for the country. 

In an Instagram post, the doubles specialist said, "Happy New Year everyone! I am Huang Yaqiong. Wish all of you a fruitful year. On the first day of 2025, I would like to announce that I have decided to withdraw from the national team.

"I know that many of you want to continuous seeing me playing on court. However, when I was preparing 2024 Paris Olympics, I deemed it as my last Olympic Games. 

"I have once said that if I continue competing on international tournaments, I need to do my best to fight for achievements. Nevertheless, I have faced many injuries and grown older, I do not have enough confidence to withstand my ability to win glory for my country," she added.
