Assisting a Tractor Trailer on the Verge of Tipping Over

We made our way to the city of Long Beach for this call, where a truck was carrying a 60,000-pound load and almost tipped over on the freeway onramp. Many of the wheels of the truck were lifted off of the ground and this was almost a full rollover when we got there, but thankfully the driver stopped and called Pepe’s Towing to help them out. We needed the help of several members of our team in order to accomplish this job, and a whole lot of patience.

Preventing a Rollover

We start off by securing the truck from the back side, setting up rigging with several members of our team and communicating to make sure that this job gets executed properly. This is a two rotator job. Our 60-ton rotator suspends the truck from the front, and the 75-ton rotator helps with the rear. We use our 50-ton wrecker in the front to winch it forward until we can get the truck to safety, without causing a roll-over. This is a very complicated job. Every step of the way we had to ensure that what we were doing wasn’t going to cause the truck to tip any farther than it already had. The total weight of the trailer with the machine ended up being 131,000 pounds, which is why we needed all of the equipment we brought to accomplish this assist.
