39. I AM LONGING, O LORD

1. I am longing, O Lord, to rest only in Thee
And to walk, here on earth, in Thy love.
If the trials must come and oppressed I must be,
Send protection, O God, from above.

I long, O God, to be faithful to Thee;
I exalt Thee, Creator, and Thy face I would see.

2. I am longing, O Lord, always fervent to be
And to constantly seek Thee each day.
Guard my heart and my steps, and from sin keep me free;
In uprightness, O God, guide my way.

3. I am longing, O Lord, to live always for Thee
And a crown in Thy kingdom to gain.
Be there battles or peace, always faithful I’ll be,
And from Thee blessed rest I’ll attain.
