How well does 2m simplex really work during a VHF event?

In this video, I head out for the 145 Alive event, which also happened to fall on World Amateur Radio Day, to see what can be achieved on 2m simplex.

We managed to rack up nearly 80 contacts, reaching as far as the Isle of Wight, all on simple VHF equipment and good old-fashioned simplex operation.

A great reminder that amateur radio is just as much about the people as it is the propagation.
