Muster Station: Leith | 2022 International Festival

Our residency at Leith Academy has now come to an end, beginning in late 2018 and culminating with the delivery of Muster Station: Leith as part of the 75th anniversary of the Festival. This video tells the story of the performance's impact, just one part of a residency designed to enrich the life of the school.

Muster Station: Leith saw the school transformed into a Festival venue, hosting a new, immersive promenade performance from the multi-award winning team Grid Iron. Hear from the Learning and Engagement team at the International Festival, pupils at Leith Academy, the creative team at Grid Iron and some of the cast in the performance as we take you behind-the-scenes of the project.

The final year of the residency focussed on the theme of perseverance, a reference to Leith's motto. Grid Iron's ideas for Muster Station echoed this sentiment, creating a project to deepen the connection between the school community and the performance. Students were supported to create a major part of the set design and took part in the Future House Skills Development Programme to train and work in professional front-of-house roles, some of them also gaining a qualification in Customer Service through their participation.
