R for Authoring Open Office Hours #121 - citing your R packages!!

Every Tuesday from 7:00-8:00 Eastern we explore authoring capabilities executed fully within "data analysis" platforms as we live code during an open Q&A session. Come ask questions about your own projects or just learn about possibilities!

This week we'll cover a few different options to facilitate the citation of packages that you use to execute your project!! There are helper functions to create package-specific references as well as to cite them within your report, so we'll review those and test out a few different alternatives.

No prior experience with R is needed for these weekly sessions - just curiosity and and open mind.

---

The weekly sessions are titled, "R for Authoring" (or, sometimes, "R is for Authoring"), although we're not technically (mostly) authoring with "R", but rather plain text supported by markdown and/or LaTeX within processors purportedly intended to process (primarily) quantitative data, but that's okay because...

"Another noteworthy characteristic of this...(sic) ...is that it doesn't always tell the truth... ...the author feels that this technique of deliberate lying will actually make it easier for you to learn the ideas" (Knuth, pp. vi-vii)
