Houdini 21 brings some seriously powerful Pyro Solver updates, and I’ve been exploring them in my latest rocket launcher setup. The new DOP microsolvers give you much more control over your simulations:

Gas Remap DOP lets you shift and scale scalar volume fields, with ramps for fine-tuned mapping.

Gas Dissipate 2.0 DOP drives fields to a goal value, making smoke naturally disappear over time.

Gas Burn DOP manages flame dissipation while emitting smoke and temperature, even adding divergence for expansion effects.

Pyro Solver now has turbulence influence controls, making flame and smoke interactions more intuitive.

I also integrated MLupres to enhance procedural control and stability across frames. In this setup, all these improvements come together in a rocket launcher effect—controlled, explosive, and ready to iterate on.
