Mount St. Helens | Boundary West Trail | Johnston Ridge Observatory | 05232026

I hiked up to Johnston Ridge starting from the Hummocks Trail, then continued via the Boundary West Trail. The visitor center is closed to vehicle access due to landslides, so now we have to hike up the whole way to enjoy the view. When I left Seattle it was thick, cloudy, and drizzling, but as I hiked further the clouds and fog cleared away, and I could see the collapsed crater of the volcano clearly today. There were only a few people on the trail in the morning, but I saw many more just starting their hike as I was heading down. I genuinely enjoyed the great hiking and the quiet trail early on.
