Records Broken, Verdicts Reversed, and One Brand Goes Dark #motorcyclelife #motorcyclenews

MotoGP is back with the Spanish GP at Jerez. It is Marquez home territory so all eyes are on him this weekend.

WorldSBK was in the Netherlands last weekend and despite questionable weather, five records were broken. The standout was Nicolo Bulega tying Toprak Razgatlioglu with the most consecutive race wins at 13.

Damon Motors appears to be done. The Vancouver-based electric motorcycle startup, which promised a 200 horsepower, 200 mph, 200 mile range superbike, went dark on April 20th when their website disappeared entirely. Both co-founders are gone. The engineering team is gone. There is no manufacturing facility. Over 3,000 people have reservation deposits with no clear path to getting them back. It is over.

In 2013, a man crashed his Suzuki GSX-R when the front brakes failed. Suzuki had issued a recall after the crash, and in 2018 a jury ruled in his favor and awarded $8 million in damages. That verdict has now been reversed. A new trial has been ordered, and punitive damages are off the table. He may have to give the money back.
