The UN Security Council's 1267 Sanctions Committee has reportedly declined to advance a joint Pakistan-China request to place the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade on the sanctions list. According to reports, the United States, United Kingdom, and France raised concerns regarding the evidence and legal grounds presented in the dossiers.

Pakistan and China argued that the BLA, Majeed Brigade, Al-Qaeda, TTP, and ISIS maintain ideological and logistical links and should therefore be treated within the same sanctions framework.

Meanwhile, tensions continue to rise in Khyber district, where a tribal jirga announced a boycott of the anti-polio campaign and warned of school closures in protest against the deteriorating security situation. The jirga also declared that police personnel would not be allowed to attend tribal meetings in uniform until peace is restored.

In another development, the Azad Kashmir government has imposed restrictions on the Joint Action Awami Committee ahead of its planned June 9 protest.
