What is Holy Basil/ Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum Linn) Leaves?

Plant grown in India originally. But also grown in Australia, West Africa and some Middle Eastern Countries. It’s been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries as an adaptogen, which is natural substance that helps your body adapt to stress and promotes mental balance.

Holy Basil's uses are endless, but I primarily have used it for sleep, as the benefits of a good night's sleep checks all the boxes for mental and physical wellbeing. Other uses are listed below:

Kills cancer cells
Inflammation
Stress: anxiety, and depression

Strengthens the immune system

People with hypothyroidism have low levels of the thyroid hormone called thyroxine. Holy basil might lower thyroxine levels. In theory, holy basil might worsen hypothyroidism.
