7. Mischa Barton
She made her debut as an actress in stage productions Slavs! and Twelve Dreams, but Mischa Barton’s most prominent role was on The O.C. as Marissa Cooper. Barton received a few Teen Choice awards for her work on the FOX primetime teen soap opera. In the show’s third season, Barton decided to call it quits on the series to pursue bigger things. She starred in smaller movies here and there and made guest appearances on shows like Law and Order: SVU and The Friday Night Project. For the most part, it seemed she struggled to stay relevant in the acting world after her O.C. departure. It was later revealed that she was a brat on the set of The O.C. and that part of the reason she left was that she felt she was too good for the show.

6. Catherine Zeta-Jones
You’ve all seen Chicago, haven’t you? Catherine Zeta-Jones can do it all. Not only does the woman act, sing, and dance, she can do anything from rom-coms to drama. So why haven’t we seen this performing powerhouse in a long time? A lot of it may have to do with three things. One, Zeta-Jones came out to the public with her mental health issues. Zeta-Jones has bipolar disorder, leading many producers to avoid hiring her. Two, her husband, fellow actor Michael Douglas, struggled with his health and Zeta-Jones time off to care for him. Three, Zeta-Jones is now 49 years old, and unless you’re Helen Mirren or Meryl Streep, there are not a lot of job openings for older women in Hollywood.

5. Sharon Stone
Once upon a time, Sharon Stone was the actress that every director wanted in the role of the sultry woman. Remember her in Casino or Basic Instinct? On top of that, Stone used to model in the fashion industry, which is where she started. Sure, she recently starred in The Disaster Artist, but Sharon Stone’s reputation for her high demands has made others shy away from working with Stone lately. When filming Basic Instinct back in 1992, the movie reportedly took so long to finish because Stone kept clashing with the studio. She was extremely selective about her roles, so much so that she didn’t accept many. Eventually, people stopped offering her any.

4. January Jones
It’s okay to be serious about your work, but to take yourself too seriously rubs off on others the wrong way. January Jones’s former Mad Men co-star Jared Gilmore reported described Jones as “not as approachable” as other people he’s worked with and that she’s “really serious about what she does” while “everyone else is so nice.” Zach Galifianakis commented that when he met Jones, she was rather rude to him. As a result, her character was called into question, and people are very wary of hiring her.

3. Gwyneth Paltrow
When you look at Gwyneth Paltrow, she seems like the western ideal of a leading actress. She’s beautiful, tall, and blonde. Your appearance takes you far in Hollywood, but the rest is up to your attitude. Paltrow is notorious for being unfriendly to others, from rival actresses such as Winona Ryder and Scarlett Johansson to her co-stars, like those on the set of Iron Man 2. Not only does Hollywood not seem so fond of Gwyneth Paltrow anymore, but public opinion of her also has swayed towards the negative side, too. Many people accuse Paltrow of being an elitist and out of touch with how people with lower wages live.

2. Jennifer Lopez
Good thing Jennifer Lopez sings more than she acts. She is a nightmare to work with on a show or film set. Her needs must be fulfilled before she even shows up for work that day or she’s prone to throwing a fit. The list of accommodations for Lopez is a long one, causing a lot of productions finding it impossible to work with her effectively. Hiring Lopez as part of your project means you’re spending millions of dollars, and even more so to fulfill her needs. Assistants to Lopez for Scream Queens commented how you need to learn how to adapt and act fast because she could demand anything at any time.
