Barber Shop Brazil talks about the current state of the favela’s and of the common man’s fear, not of dealers, but of the police. This is not a film about corruption, but about the life of ordinary teenagers in one of Brazil's most populous cities.

The story plays in the outer skirts of Rio, in the Favela Jacarezinho. Barber Pedro rents the chairs in his barber shop to teenagers, but only if they stop getting involved in crime. Not only eager to learn a profession, but the teenagers of Salao Faria have also even developed a very specific haircut: the Jaca Haircut.

We meet 6 populations in transition via the microcosm of the local barbershop. In every episode, a population finds itself on the verge of change and a barber plays his role. As opinion maker, as confessor, as story collector, as society barometer. Gradually, Barber Shop measures the state of our world, offering dialogue and human resilience as a hopeful perspective for the future.
