LET’S TALK about How to Be Bold in Our Faith

1. PRAY AND ASK GOD FOR BOLDNESS
- Acts 4:29 (NLT): And now, O Lord, hear their threats, and give us, your servants, great
boldness in preaching your word.
2. READ SCRIPTURE
- know the character and nature of God and remind yourself that you are created in His
image. Remember that His Holy Spirit lives in you if you believe in Jesus and that
image comes alive through the power of the Holy Spirit.
3. KNOW THE HOLY SPIRIT IS WITH YOU…AND TRUST AND DEPEND ON HIM
- Acts 1:8 (NLT): But you! will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And
you! will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem,
throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
- Peter saw the opportunity and was “filled with the Holy Spirit.”
4. TALK ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE “SEEN & HEARD” ABOUT JESUS
- you have the greatest ability to share what YOU have experienced - seen and heard.
1. Grow in sharing your faith with other followers of Jesus. The more you share it the
more comfortable you will become in sharing with others.
1. Begin by sharing your testimony with someone you know and you know they love
you. Many have NEVER shared how they began following Jesus…how they
recognized God’s love for them and how they responded to that love. They have
never shared (or reflected on) how their life is different because they believe in and
follow Jesus. THIS IS A GREAT FIRST STEP.
2. Your story is worth sharing.
5. BE AUTHENTIC AND DON’T DENY YOUR FAITH
- Be transparent. Don’t change the Gospel because you are afraid it will offend
someone. The Gospel offends those who are not living for Jesus and are living for the
world.
1. 1 Corinthians 1:18 (NLT): The message of the cross is foolish to those who are
headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of
God.
1. Don’t adjust your beliefs to attempt to fit what others may desire. They will lose
respect for you and your adjustment will never be enough for them until you believe
exactly how they believe.
6. PRAY FOR AMAZING MOVEMENTS OF GOD - they prayed for miraculous signs and
wonders. We need to do the same with expectation.
1. Acts 4:30 (NLT): Stretch out your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and
wonders be done through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”
7. LIVE INTO BOLDNESS
1. 2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT): For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of
power, love, and self-discipline.
- Acts 13:46: Paul and Barnabas “spoke out boldly” when the Jews publicly reviled
them.
- In Ephesus, Apollos spoke “boldly in the synagogue” (Acts 18:26).
- In Caesarea, when Paul was imprisoned, he spoke “boldly” to King Agrippa (Acts
26:26)
2. Boldness looks different for all people in all the various situations and
circumstances. That does not provide an excuse for not being bold but does call us
to be wise in all circumstances. Consider the context of the situation.
- speaking to someone first and not waiting for them to break the ice
- Forgiving someone that doesn’t deserve your forgiveness.
- Don’t hold a grudge. Release them from whatever is holding you.
- Show kindness without the expectation of getting anything in return
- Love boldly
8. GO - When not sure…JUST MOVE BOLDLY
1. What do we have to lose?
- We are commanded to GO and make disciples.
- We just have to GO because we are commanded to GO. Many are waiting for the
right time or the correct moment. This command doesn’t take those things into
consideration. This command simply says to GO!
- Matthew 28:19–20 (NLT): Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be
sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
2. God didn’t create us for fear
1. God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. This is
