Punga Upepo follows the making of a traditional ngalawa sailing boat on the Kenyan coast, and the people connected to it: artist Pie Herring, local boatbuilders, fishermen, and the Makongeni Beekeepers.

What begins as the building of a boat becomes a story about art, heritage, resilience, and the ripple effect of one action. Set between Chale Island, Makongeni village and the waters of Diani, the film explores how culture, community, and environmental stewardship are deeply connected.
