One of the new White House financial advisors, Jared Bernstein, doubled down on his support for President Biden’s $1.9 trillion stimulus package yesterday in a discussion on CNBC.

We talked about him yesterday in my unemployment video, and when asked about the Democrats using budget reconciliation to bypass the GOP, Bernstein explained: “Reconciliation doesn’t mean no Republicans joined the plan.”

He continued: “There’s a lot of common ground when it comes to virus control, when it comes to helping businesses.”

Bernstein also said: “The president is willing to exchange information and ideas in any way that accomplishes the goals he set out for this package. Not moving quickly, and not moving with the force to finally put this virus behind us and launch this recovery: That’s the part that’s not acceptable to him.”

This is great news, as we need these vital stimulus funds as soon as possible, and it seems like President Biden is doing the smart thing and is listening to the economists for their thoughts on the economy, what an idea.

Meanwhile, Republican Senator Mitt Romney is planning to propose a new stimulus bill today, providing the parents of children with up to $4,200 in stimulus checks per child in American households.

His new stimulus bill will provide $4,200 per year for every child up to the age of 6, as well as $3,000 per year for every child age 6 to 17.

Romney explained: “We have not comprehensively reformed our family support system in nearly three decades, and our changing economy has left millions of families behind."

He continued: “Now is the time to renew our commitment to families to help them meet the challenges they face as they take on the most important work any of us will ever do — raising our society’s children.”

While I’d love to see all Americans getting $4,200 stimulus checks, this sounds like a great proposal that would help millions of struggling American families with some much needed disaster relief funds.

Finally, the House voted yesterday to speed up the stimulus process, taking the first step in pushing President Biden’s $1.9 trillion disaster relief out the door, with or without support from the GOP.

In a 218-212 vote, the House of Representatives voted to direct 12 committees to start drafting the fine details of the new $1.9 trillion stimulus package, which will likely contain: $1,400 stimulus checks, $350 billion in state and local aid and more extended enhanced unemployment benefits.

House Budget Chair John Yarmuth stated: “Nothing in this resolution should come as a surprise. We cannot afford to slow down. We need to hurry the hell up.”

President Biden also noted to leading Congressional Democrats: “Let’s stick together, I have your back and I hope you’ll have mine.”

Hopefully Biden and the rest of Congress can work together to craft a bipartisan stimulus bill, but at least it’s good to know that the Dems are willing to press the GO button if they can’t get support from Congressional Republicans.
