Bollywood film shines at the Marrakech Film festival

(2 Dec 2012) BOLLYWOOD STARS GET GLORIOUS RECEPTION IN MARRAKECH
The Marrakech International Film Festival (30 November- 8 December 2012) is paying a special tribute to the Hindi cinema this year.
An important Indian delegation made UP of around one hundred actors and actresses, producers, film directors and screen writers made the trip to Marrakech.
Many big stars of Bollywood were greeted enthusiastically by a huge crowd of admirers who braved the rain and the cold. They were holding pictures of their fans and some of them had been waiting all day long just to have a glimpse of their favourite stars.
The actor and producer Sharukh Khan was mobbed by a huge crowd of all ages while Amitabh Bachchan, who is a household name in Morocco, was also given a tremendous reception.
Indian cinema is well received in Morocco because it is mainly based on love stories that always end well.
The audiences like the music, the dancing and the choreography.
In November 2005 Yash Shopra, who died this year said at the Marrakech film festival:
"In India, music is part of people's lives, at all times, from birth to death. The rhythm of our lives is marked in this way. This is why in films, music and dance are also important. This reflects our reality. Without music we would not have a soul. This is why people love Indian cinema because even if you don't speak the same language, there is something universal that the audience understands. For example, Moroccans learn our songs by heart. When I arrived in Morocco, I was fascinated to discover this".
The festival is paying a tribute to Yash Shopra by screening eight of his films. No less than eighteen Indian films will be screened during this festival.
