Nigeria’s transition to net zero carbon emissions by 2060 faces funding hortages

Launched in 2021, Nigeria’s Energy Transition Plan for net-zero emissions by 2060 is at a crossroads. While some progress has been made, doubts persist over the feasibility of the goal. Central to the plan is financing, with an estimated $1.9 trillion needed by 2060. The strategy targets emission reductions in five key sectors: power, cooking, oil and gas, transport, and industry, while steering the country toward cleaner energy.
