Isn’t everyone a bit ADHD? #adhdinwomen #latediagnosed #adhdjourney #emotionalregulation

No, not everyone is a bit ADHD.
For women in our 30s, 40s, and beyond, realising you may have ADHD later in life isn’t just a funny meme or an internet joke—it’s a game-changer. It’s a huge challenge that can completely shatter your ability to function, causing even the simplest tasks to feel impossible.

What’s cruel is that we were missed. The symptoms of ADHD in women are often masked or overlooked—especially when the people diagnosing us are still clinging to outdated, narrow ideas of what ADHD “looks like.” We weren’t taught to see ourselves as neurodivergent, and we grew up in a world that didn’t recognise the signs.

And now, as we slowly step into understanding our ADHD, we’re met with the painful reality of having lived years of our lives feeling broken, confused, and misunderstood. It’s time to stop seeing ADHD as a joke. It’s not a trend or a label; it’s a real struggle that impacts everything we do.

This is gender bias at its finest. So many of us were told we were just “too sensitive,” “lazy,” or “dramatic.” It’s time to change that narrative. We are not broken. We were just never seen for who we truly are.

To every woman out there starting to realise why things feel so hard: You are not alone, and this is the beginning of reclaiming your truth.
