TubeBuddy For YouTube & Why TubeBuddy SUCKS for Keyword Research...

So why do I say that TubeBuddy for YouTube is horrible?

Now, I'll get into all of that in a bit, but I have to say though that I realise this video will probably create some controversy and that's OK.

There are some big boy YouTubers who all recommend and suggest TubeBuddy. I mean I get it...

People want to make affiliate commission and on the surface, a tool like the TubeBuddy extension sounds epic.

It's free (to an extent)
It automates a tonne of stuff (which is SUPER dangerous and I'll cover that as well)
It does keyword research (which for the most part will be the topic of this video)
And so on...

I don't really care as much for the "and so on" part as there are a few features that do save time etc.

But as I mentioned before, the topic of this video is TubeBuddy Keyword Research for YouTube.

Now while TubeBuddy has a keyword rank tracker, it has famously been hit and miss... and so, when I approached TubeBuddy about this problem, they arrogantly just told me that they are right and I am wrong.

While this is not a complete TubeBuddy overview, I do touch on the important stuff. The pitfalls if you will.

You might be wondering "Is TubeBuddy Good"? and so let me tell you that yes, there are some good aspects of TubeBuddy, but the main stuff is pretty crappy.

I go into more detail in my TubeBuddy Video above.

In the video I show you exactly why I say that TubeBuddy's keyword research module is one of the worst ones out there.

The views discrepancy differs by THOUSANDS of percentages. And that is a big deal.

I'll show you my personal account in the video, but let me give you a quick example of just how bad TubeBuddy for YouTube keyword research really is.

The search term "Paypal" apparently gets searched for 263 Million times per month. That is a massive amount of searches.

So let me show you something.

The #1 video on YouTube for the term "Paypal" has been up for almost 2 years and can you guess how many views this video has?

Only 400,000 views.

That's a "mere" 17,000 views per month from a keyword that supposedly gets 263,000,000 searches per month!!!!

And wanna know the percentage difference? 0.0065%... impressive huh?

Why people don't talk about this is just beyond me!!

Here's why I bring this up...

First of all, I don't want people who are new to YouTube or just getting started to get discouraged when massive corporations like TubeBuddy vs Vidiq, et al make them a bunch of false promises.

So many people buy into what TubeBuddy says and promises only to be disappointed. It happens all the time. Not even to mention their incredible arrogance.

I want to end off by giving you my suggestions for doing proper keyword research and what I've been using to help rank all my videos so well.

Method 1

Simply use what YouTube shows you.

Start by typing a keyword and look at what gets suggested to you by YouTube.

These are all the most popular keywords that people are searching for and you know its worth looking into if it gets suggested.

Add letters of the alphabet to help you come up with different terms.

You could also use Google Trends. Make sure you select YOUTUBE.

That's it. Super simple and doesn't cost you a cent.

Method 2 and the method I personally use and highly recommend.

This is a piece of software called MorningFame.

The cool thing about morning fame is that when you do keyword research, it takes both the suggested keywords I mentioned earlier as well as google and google trends into account.

It then rates it on a scale of 0-100.

There is just so much more to this incredible tool that I would need to create a separate video just to go through it all.

Let me end off by saying that you'd be making a MASSIVE mistake thinking that TubeBuddy for YouTube keyword research is the answer.

I'd much rather support smaller developers who actually have your best interest at heart and who cares about helping you with excellent support.
