Authorities in Rawalpindi have officially declared a flood emergency due to the high risk of urban flooding during the upcoming monsoon season.

The emergency will remain in effect from June 15 to September 15, as per official orders. A central flood monitoring control room is being established under the supervision of the Pakistan Army at the Civil Defence Office, while the 111 Brigade has been placed on high alert.

Emergency teams including Rescue 1122 and Civil Defence personnel are receiving specialized training to handle rescue operations, particularly around Rawal Dam.

The administration has also ordered immediate cleaning of Nullah Lai and 15 other rain drains to prevent flooding disasters.

To ensure public safety, five relief camps have been set up in key areas including Murree Road and Liaquat Bagh for emergency evacuations.

Citizens are strongly advised to stay alert and cooperate with authorities during the monsoon period.
