Fit for Dermoscopy Intro — Video course on skin cancer diagnostics by Prof. Andreas Blum

Detecting and diagnosing benign and malignant skin lesions is challenging, particularly for those just starting out in dermatoscopy. Prof. Andreas Blum introduces ‘Diagnostic Eye’, his algorithm that enables practitioners to take a systematic approach to dermatoscopic diagnostics. Using many case studies, he demonstrates the characteristics of various types of skin cancer and benign skin lesions, and highlights the distinguishing features.

Prof. Blum is an internationally recognised expert, lecturer and consultant in dermatology, dermatoscopy and skin cancer.

In three series, the individual educational videos guide viewers through the intricacies of dermatoscopic diagnosis one step at a time. This course gives medical professionals a good overview of the general approach to dermatoscopy.

Series 1: Basics of Dermatoscopy (3 videos)
Prof. Andreas Blum gives an overview of the 3 series in his video course. The first series primarily covers basic knowledge of the physical principles of dermatoscopy, dermatoscopy with a contact plate and polarised light, and the relevance and significance of the colours of skin lesions.
In the second series, Prof. Blum explains dermatoscopic diagnosis based on his proprietary ‘Diagnostic Eye’ algorithm and shows detailed dermatoscopic images of benign and malignant skin lesions.

Special locations such as the face, nails or mucous membranes are the focus of the third series. Here, too, Prof. Blum explains the approach and diagnostics using various case studies.
