No appeasement! Bengal ends religion-based stipends

The newly formed West Bengal government has announced the end of religion-based stipend schemes for imams and purohits, calling it a shift away from “appeasement politics.”

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said the funds will now be redirected toward merit-based scholarships open to students from all communities and political backgrounds.
