A routine police call turns into a life-or-death rescue caught on camera.
Virginia State Trooper S. Baker responded to a disabled vehicle in Emporia, Virginia, during the early hours of March 25, 2026. What seemed like a normal roadside assistance call quickly became a dangerous emergency when the pickup truck, stuck in a ditch with the driver still inside, suddenly caught fire.

As flames spread from the grass underneath the vehicle and began engulfing the truck, Trooper Baker acted instantly—pulling the driver out and dragging him to safety just in time.
Bodycam footage shows the intense moments as the trooper risks his life to rescue the driver and then uses a fire extinguisher to try and control the fire before firefighters and EMS arrive.
Thankfully, the driver survived the incident.

This dramatic rescue highlights the bravery and quick thinking of law enforcement officers in critical situations.
