First Fire of our Igniter! | AxoloTV Ep. 1 — Students Building a 600N Liquid Rocket Engine

Welcome to the very first episode of AxoloTV! 🚀

Last month, we fired our Augmented Sparkplug Igniter (ASI) for the very first time. The igniter itself is small, but this is a huge milestone for the Axolotl project. It validates our feed system and test bench, and brings us one big step closer to firing the 600N engine!

Axolotl is one of DARE's newer projects, focused on developing small-scale liquid rocket engines. The team is currently building a 600N engine running on ethanol and nitrous oxide, with the ultimate goal of putting it on a rocket hopper. The engine is a platform for R&D into throttling, injector configurations, and other things we didn't get to explore with our previous engine, Firebolt.

In this vlog, we take you behind the scenes of what a typical testing day at DARE actually looks like. From prep work in the morning to (hopefully) ignition by the end of the day.

If you enjoyed the video, drop a like and subscribe so you don't miss the next episode of AxoloTV as we work our way toward firing the full engine!
