Just Published the 26 Irrefutable Laws of the Boardroom

In this video, Steve shares two business and leadership book recommendations, and explains why he wrote them.

He starts with Lead Without Limits, the first book in the Lead Without Limits series. Steve describes it as a mirror-holding book for leaders. You use it to spot the habits holding you back, reflect on how they show up in your leadership, and choose what you will change.

Steve then shares the second book in the series, The 26 Irrefutable Laws of the Boardroom, which has now been published and is available on Amazon. He explains where the ideas came from, combining senior leadership experience and operational decision making from military service with over a decade coaching leadership teams, boardrooms, and C-suite leaders in business.

Steve outlines the structure of the book through Five Codes.

Code of Me. How you turn up at the table. What drives you. What you bring to the boardroom.
Code of You. What you expect from others at the table, and your responsibility to address gaps and develop standards.
Code of Us. How the leadership team operates as a team, and the positive or negative impact this group creates across the whole organisation.
Code of Leading. How leaders show up without ego, lead with intent, and focus on what leadership means for the wider business.
Code of Them. Customers, suppliers, stakeholders, and the wider system around the organisation, and how board level decisions affect them.

He then shares four principles that underpin the book’s approach to boardroom performance and leadership standards.

Healthy conflict. You need to challenge and accept challenge at board level.
Emotional intelligence. You need awareness of your emotions and the emotions of others at the table.
Team-first leadership. You play for the name on the front of the shirt, not the one on the back.
No collusion. You raise issues properly, stop side conversations, and improve the level of communication.

Steve closes by inviting comments and observations from readers, and confirms a third book in the Lead Without Limits series will follow later this year.
