Even Security Companies Can't Protect You from This

This week, a significant "data leakage prevention" failure occurred at Aura, a major identity protection company, leading to a massive "cyber crime". A hacker, through impersonation, gained access to 900,000 customer records, exposing sensitive "personal information". This incident underscores the critical need for robust "information security" and vigilance against "identity fraud", even from services designed to protect us.

Check if your data was exposed:
• Have I Been Pwned: https://haveibeenpwned.com
• Aura’s official statement: https://www.aura.com/press/release/statement-on-exposure-of-customer-information

What was exposed: Names, email addresses, phone numbers, physical addresses, IP addresses, and customer service notes. Aura confirmed that no Social Security numbers, passwords, or financial data was compromised. About 20,000 active and 15,000 former customers were affected.

Protect yourself: • Check haveibeenpwned.com with your email
• Watch for phishing emails referencing "Aura breach"
• Place a free credit freeze (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion)
• Use a password manager + enable MFA on every account
