Vintage 1972 Hamilton Dateline A-596 Watch Restoration

In this video, I service and restore a vintage Hamilton Dateline A-596 from 1972. The movement is a Swiss made, ETA based, Hamilton caliber 822 automatic with 17 jewels.

I was in for a little surprise with this watch; It was listed as "fully serviced by a watchmaker" when I purchased it. I quickly discovered that the setting lever, as well as the stem, were completely incorrect for this watch. As received, the quick set date function did not work and the setting wheel teeth would not mesh completely with the minute wheel, meaning the watch could not reliably be set. Fortunately, I had the correct spare parts in my stash and was able to get this beautiful watch back in business.
