Florida Rule of Professional Conduct 4-2.1 - Adviser

The shortest important rule in Chapter Four. Rule 4-2.1 says a Florida lawyer's job is to give the client independent professional judgment and candid advice - not what the client wants to hear.

John M. Phillips is a Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and national legal analyst for Court TV. He is admitted in eight states and before the U.S. Supreme Court. Through the Rules of Professional Conduct, the Florida Bar tells every Florida lawyer what they must do for their clients - and what they cannot. These videos walk through what each rule actually means.
