The Cheap Muffling Material That BEATS Gaff Tape & Moongel

Whenever muffling is needed, most drummers either reach for moon gel or gaff tape. Which is better? Or should we be muffling at all?… Furthermore, what if there’s a third muffling material that’s actually better-sounding than either of these two things? Today we’re testing, comparing, and finding out which muffling material is truly the best. We also learn about the importance of tuning first, then muffling. Not every ringy snare or sympathetic tom can be easily fixed with muffling. Sometimes tuning is the key. However, muffling is an excellent tool for getting a gushy, mellow, focused, punchy, or just plain dead drum sound.
