Miss Gertie Millar sings "Chalk Farm To Camberwell Green" 1915

From the Revue "Bric-A-Brac" Palace Theatre, London, 1915.
Produced by Alfred Butt, written by Arthur Wimperis and Basil Hood.
A lovely star of the Edwardian Musical Theatre, Gertie Millar was described thus by Noel Coward:
"I adore her and in my memory she is clearly the most graceful and charming artiste I have ever seen."
The 18th September found Gaiety star Gertie Millar at the Palace Theatre, London, starring in her first revue, produced by Alfred Butt. In it she sang three of Lionel Monckton's happiest songs, "Toy Town", "Chalk Farm To Camberwell Green" and "Neville Was A Devil".
Monckton died in 1923, and in April of 1924 Gertie Millar married the second Earl of Dudley, adding yet another name to the illustrious list of Gaiety girls who had married into the Peerage. At the death of her husband she became the Dowager Countess of Dudley, and remained a charming and popular figure of London first nights and theatrical events almost up to her death on 20th April 1952.
