R32 D train ride: The Farewell Retirement Run
Seen here is a ride on a D train, operated by R32s on the Holiday train excursion.
In honor of this run, the New York Transit Museum decided to run the R32s as a farewell excursion for the next 4 weekends until its last run, which will take place on January 9, 2022.
The R32s would be known as the longest serving subway car to serve NYCT since the 1960s, thus surviving 11 presidents, graffiti, and being saved from other reasons, like sending it back into service on the J/Z to cover for the R179s that was taken out of service back in 2020.
I was glad to ride these cars, only to run it as a special on the D from 145 Street to 2nd Avenue, until the last day, it takes place on the Q one last time as the end of an era of these cars come to an end.
