Laboratory Exercise 6: Cocktail Mixing Techniques

The trick to making a great drink is to balance each ingredient. Precision with the measurementof
ingredients plays a vital role. The most accurate way of measuring liquid for cocktail mixing is by using a jigger. In bartending the commonly used jigger is double-sided with different measurements. One side measures up to 1.5 oz or 45ml while the other side measures up to 1 oz or 30ml. Cocktail recipes are frequently written in fluid measures. All ingredients are measured in ounces. Ingredients are measured in milliliters in countries using the metric system. Both are more precise than tablespoons and cups when it comes to measuring. Liquor bottles, mixers like soda and syrup, glassware, and cocktail ingredients all use these volume proportions.
