1. Purpose of the Exam
Admission to 23 IITs across India
Also used by institutes like Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bangalore), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST) for some programs.
2. Eligibility
To appear in JEE Advanced:
Must qualify Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE Main).
Only the top ~2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main can appear.
Age limit:
General / OBC: Born on or after 1 Oct 2001 (approx for 2026)
ST/SC/PwD: 5-year relaxation.
Must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
Maximum 2 attempts in two consecutive years.
3. Exam Mode
Computer Based Test (CBT)
Conducted by one IIT every year on behalf of the **Indian Institutes of Technology.
