Hawaii's new EV fee aims to improve road conditions statewide
A new law now requires electric vehicle (EV) owners in Hawaii to pay an annual road usage charge. EVs do not contribute to air pollution, but their owners have not been contributing to road maintenance costs. The state now mandates EV owners to pay a $50 road usage charge each year, or less if their mileage is below 6,250 miles annually.
