Francisco Javier Valdivia, 45, received a life sentence on Monday for the 2016 first-degree murder and arson of Cecilia Bravo Cabrera, whose body remains missing. Valdivia must serve at least 25 years before parole eligibility. The Tulare County District Attorney commended the prosecution for securing justice despite the lack of a body. Valdivia and Cabrera were married in 2008, reportedly for immigration purposes, with Valdivia living with another partner and children while supporting Cabrera. On June 8, 2016, after celebrating Cabrera's birthday, her car was found burning, and she disappeared. Cell phone data contradicted Valdivia's alibi, placing him near the fire. Investigators also uncovered prior threats Valdivia made against Cabrera's life.
