Taoiseach Micheál Martin has held talks with Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican.

Mr Martin, accompanied by his wife Mary, was greeted by the Prefect of the Papal Household, Monsignor Petar Rajič.

The crisis in the Middle East and Ireland's upcoming presidency of the EU were amongst the topics discussed.
