FBI Seizes Record-Setting $8 Billion in Fraud in Scam Center Crackdown

At a press conference in Columbus, Ohio, on June 4, 2026, FBI Director Patel said, "The FBI is leading the effort to scuttle these scam centers permanently, to free the trafficked workers, and most importantly, to also secure our taxpayer dollars and make sure that this $8 billion and counting in scam center fraud that the FBI has delivered on so far only continues to grow. And we're going to keep doing it."
