Sadaaqa a show that celebrates the friendship between India and Kuwait

UC Kohli , the patriarch of the Kohli family in Kuwait, left the subcontinent in the early 1920s. After living in Iraq and Iran, he came to Kuwait in the late 30s and built his home here. Life was tough. It was scorching, and basic amenities like water were lacking. But pioneering Indians like Mr Kohli and others did not give up easily. They worked shoulder to shoulder with the locals and helped Kuwait grow into a rich, prosperous nation. UC Kohli was a leader among men. He built schools, organised the Indians into a community, befriended the Kuwaitis and built a relationship based on mutual respect and equality. He headed the trade office, and the merchants association, got permission for a cremation ground. Kuwait was then regarded as the ' pearl of the Gulf'. Ravi Kohli, scion of the family, recalls Kuwait as the first country in the Gulf to build a tar road, first to build a hospital, first to build a university. Ravi Kohli grew up in this Kuwait and he built his business from scratch giving Kuwait one of its most popular Indian restaurants - Dawat & Taal. To Kohli and his family Kuwait is home. It is his fruist love, but he knows the future is uncertain.
