NASA Hired Warhol. Almost Nobody Saw the Art | VERSO

In 1962, NASA hired Andy Warhol, Norman Rockwell, and Robert Rauschenberg to document the space race. The program produced over 3,000 works. Most have never been publicly exhibited.
Rauschenberg spent three days at Kennedy Space Center before the Apollo 11 launch and created Stoned Moon — considered among his most important works. The largest collection of art about space exploration in history has remained, itself, unexplored.
