If the energy carrier hydrogen becomes as important as fossil fuels today, what are the profound changes in the geopolitical map?

While most hydrogen research focuses on the technical and cost hurdles to a full-scale hydrogen economy, too little consideration might have been given to the geopolitical drivers and implications of global hydrogen developments. The technologies and infrastructures underpinning a hydrogen economy can take tremendously various forms, and the decisions over which road to take is the object of competition between distinctive stakeholders and countries.
