How Dave Winfield was Drafted to FOUR Pro Leagues in ONE YEAR

Coming out of the University of Minnesota in 1973, Dave Winfield wasn't just a baseball prospect, he was a once-in-a-generation athlete that every sport wanted a piece of.

The 6'6" phenom had led the Gophers to a Big Ten basketball championship and was named College World Series MVP. Pro leagues took notice across the board. The San Diego Padres took him 4th overall in the MLB Draft. The Atlanta Hawks grabbed him in the NBA Draft. The Utah Stars selected him in the ABA Draft. And the Minnesota Vikings — despite Winfield having never played college football — drafted him in the NFL Draft, eyeing him as a tight end.
