Facing Misdirection | Nathan Song | TEDxYouth@TCIS

Why are people fooled by magic? In this talk, Nathan Song explains the concept of misdirection and why it is important to be focused on the things that truly matter in life. Nathan Song, currently in 10th grade, was born in New York. He lived in Korea for 10 years and also lived in Sweden for a year. The first time he experienced magic was Sweden. It changed his life entirely. Magic gave him the opportunity to perform up on stages, by standing in front of a large audience many times, and it made him fall in love with public speaking and performance. When he was young, he went through struggles that were, at first, difficult to overcome. But he discovered that the best way to overcome that situation was to express his emotions and thoughts openly to the public. Since then, he started to share his experiences and the lessons that he had learned from it. He felt the urge to take this opportunity and share his passion and experiences with the public. He will be talking about 'Misdirection', relating this theory to why and how people are getting distracted from what's truly important and demonstrating it through a magic performance. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
