Believe it or not, this iconic Indiana Jones moment was never supposed to happen.

Back in 1981, Harrison Ford was filming Raiders of the Lost Ark in Tunisia. Everyone on set was down with stomachache, except director Steven Spielberg, who brought canned SpaghettiOs from home.

You see, they planned an epic “whip vs. sword” showdown. Spielberg searched the world for the best swordsman, and they even rehearsed this complicated fight scene with loads of extras. But when it came time to film, Ford was so ill that he couldn't step away from his trailer for more than 10 minutes at a time.

That’s when Harrison went up to Steven and said, “Why don’t we just shoot this guy?” Spielberg replied he was thinking the same, and the improvised moment became an instant classic.
