How To Know If You Have Anxiety? - The Anxiety Quiz

How do you know if you have anxiety? And how do know if it's improving over time?

The good news is you don't have to just guess at this. There's actually a pretty scientific way to do it.

It's called the burns anxiety inventory. I'll tell how to use it in this video, and if you stay till the end, I'll tell you where to go to get a free app I created that will rate your anxiety on a scale of 0-99.
So you can finally answer the question, "how bad is my anxiety?"
So what is the burns anxiety inventory? And how does tell you if you have anxiety?

It's a 33 question quiz and it rates your anxiety on a scale of 0-99.

Each item on the quiz is a different symptom that is associated with anxiety.

And for each symptom you answer how much it has bothered you in the past week.

The 4 answer choices for each symptom are:

Not at all
Somewhat
Moderately
A Lot

And each answer choice is worth a certain number of points.

And so "not at all" is worth 0 points.
"somewhat" is worth 1 point.
"Moderately" is worth 2 points.
and "A lot" is worth 3 points.

So you go through these 33 symptoms, and for each one you answer how much it has bothered you in the past week.

And at the end you add up your total score, which will come out somewhere between 0 and 99.

The score is broken in 6 categories.

If your total score is 0-4, that's considered "minimal or no anxiety"
5-10 is "Borderline anxiety"
11-20 is "mild anxiety"
21-30 is "moderate anxiety"
31-50 is "Severe anxiety"
51-99 is "Extreme anxiety or panic"

Now what's amazing about this is not only help you know how severe your anxiety is today. It also helps you track how your anxiety is improving over time.

Sometimes when you're working on your anxiety, it can feel like you're not making any progress. But with the help of this little quiz, you have an objective way to know if the anxiety is getting better.

There's a guy named Peter Drucker who said, "if you can't measure it, you can't improve it." And this burns anxiety inventory is your way to measure it.

When I first took this quiz over a year ago, I think I got around a 77, which is way up there in that extreme anxiety range. But then I took it again a month later and it was down into the high 40s, which is still in that severe anxiety range, but it was huge improvement in pretty short amount of time, and made me feel more committed to the path of overcoming anxiety.

And I actually took it again over the weekend, and my score was just 9 points. So I still have room for improvement, that's still considered borderline anxiety, but to think that a year ago I was at 77, and now I'm the single digits, is so motivating and makes me really excited about sharing more and more information on this youtube channel.

Now one of my gripes about this quiz is I've always just had it as a printed out sheet of paper, and had to add it up manually, and it was so easy to make mistakes.
