Irish Government utterly Failing our Schools and Children - 26/06/24 [Paul Murphy TD]

Once again, the government is allowing a motion to pass that they've NO intention to follow through on.

It's a farce how our schools are being squeezed to run on shoestring budgets for decades - it's simply not possible to run a school on the stingy grants from the Department of Education.

The government knows how bad the teacher and education crisis is, but clear intend to push ahead without any change.

The government knows that this places schools in working class areas and children with additional needs at a particular disadvantage. It doesn't care.

The entire crisis is entirely unnecessary - the government has a €65 billion surplus. It could fund EVERYTHING that schools need tomorrow, but it's a cynical political choice not to.
