The man has no job and he wanders around wearing black pair of suits visiting one funeral from another. Posing to his girlfriend that he’s on a job-hunt, he spends all day visiting funerals. Some may suspect him of condolence money thief, but he simply attends funerals as he believes serene silence gives him certain vibration to gamble. And so far he has never lost after attending a funeral.

One day as always, he wears his dark-suits and wanders around looking for a funeral to attend. Finally he arrives at a funeral after a long walk. But to an unusual funeral. It was a funeral of a man who his wife claims disappeared into the mountain. The wife wants to get over with her past and to get on with her new life. Funeral was a way to get rid of her past but she faces trouble with her in-laws who still believe their son is alive.

The funeral turns into a chaos and the man cannot get his serene silence. For the first time, he loses his gamble.
Something pushed him off the track.
Fortunately or unfortunately, he gets his back strength and desire. But his girl slams the door in his face. More over, his girlfriend thinks he has gone mad.
They can no longer fill the gap build between them.

Next morning, he just wants to take a distance from it all.

ヤツは失職者である。
ヤツはインポテンツである。
だからギャンブルに強い。
ヤツは死にたい。
けれど、ヤツはしぶとい。
そして、やっぱりヤツは生きたいのだ。
女のアパートで居候を決め込む主人公「ヤツ」は無職。就職活動と偽ってダークスーツを着込み、行き当たりばったりに葬式会場に入り込む。別に香典泥棒ではない。
葬式の持つ一種独特の雰囲気と死の匂いがヤツに生を確認させる。

そして、なぜか葬式に参列した後のパチンコ、競馬は負け知らずなのだ……。

いつものようにダークスーツで出掛けたヤツは、都心の住宅街をさまよい歩く。人気のない街でさんざん迷ったあげく、ヤツはある葬式会場にたどり着く。しかし、様子がおかしい。その葬式は、夫が山で行方不明になった妻が死亡も確認されないまま、親族にも告げず行っているものだった。会場でもめる山男の妻と親族……。
ヤツはいつもの静謐なインスピレーションを得られず、ギャンブルにも勝てない。

歯車の狂ったヤツはその夜、久し振りに女を求めるが軽くいなされ、逆に最近の奇行を糾弾される。理解し合うことができないふたり。
ヤツは翌朝、ただただ遠くへ向かっていた。

ダークスーツのまま雪山へ分け入っていくヤツ。そのまま、死んでもいいはずだった。しかし、ヤツの生存本能と生命力が強烈に「生きること」を欲している。
死んだはずの山男のメッセージを胸にヤツは下山する。

強烈な食欲……そして、性欲。今はそれを素直に受け入れることだ。
ヤツは走る。
ひたすらにただがむしゃらに……生を否定せず、何者でもない自分へ向かって。
アスファルトに封印されたふるさとの土の薫り
萌え出ずる春は時を超えて、やがてまた巡る
