Understanding Man's Destiny - John Foster Dulles

John Foster Dulles was an American diplomat, lawyer, and served as United States Secretary of State under President Dwight D. Eisenhower from 1953 to 1959.

In a speech on this day in 1954 to the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles said the United States will protect its allies against communist aggression through the “deterrent of massive retaliatory power.” That the very concepts of freedom and liberty come from God himself and are man's destiny to follow them.
