Beyond Anything We Expected!

We have been in a heat wave and drought for what seems like months down here in south Mississippi. The temperature on this day was predicted to hit 108 degrees but it stayed a little cooler at 103 degrees. The water in the creek was very low and as hot as bath water so there wasn’t much relief in it but that didn’t stop Matthew from racking up on the arrowheads on this trip. He found what may be his personal best so far with a huge black Pontchartrain point possibly made from Fort Payne chert which will be the second one made of this material found by our group down here this summer. Also, because many of you have shown an interest we have included some clips of the beautiful petrified wood we found.
