Cuba’s Shelves Are Empty, Citizens Are Organizing
Pharmacy shelves are empty. Every morning, long lines form outside supermarkets as early as 5am, for a chance to buy one of the few food staples for sale. As Cuba’s welfare system is failing, dissidents at home and in exile have set up informal distribution systems to pick up the slack.
